"To know a people one must live with them" is a saying that applies to the aborigines of Australia. Thus out of forty years amidst them has this book been written.
While living and working with the black people this data has been collected out of countless talks, arguments, intrigues, sitting in the dust of their corroborees, in bush and towns or working with them on the seas.
The customs and camp-life have been checked and rechecked as, over the years, this tale was written to give an show more authentic story of contact between the white man and the black man of the Northern Territory. show less

Very interesting read. Gives a good description of a man whose whole life was spent in the Australian outback. He was definitely a "people person", had a good sense of humor, was a talented writer, a very learned man and largely a self taught one, as his formal education was limited. He was a good friend of the aboriginal people of Australia.
