1269. The Jesuits: A History, by Christopher Hollis (1 Apr 1974) Though footnoteless and written in rather cursory fashion, this book was of much interest, especially in regard to the history of the order before the suppression in 1773. The author sees the order's history in the 19th century as less notable.
