Thanks Familius Books/NetGalley for the gifted DRC book.
The artwork in this wordless picture book is so lovely. You can feel the movement of Claude the dog’s mischievous actions while his young human tries to paint. It’s a great medium to open a conversation about perfectionism. Children are free to take the discussion where they’d like as there’s a loose narrative here. What will they imagine that’s not specifically on page? How does that apply to their own lives? This book is show more really what you make of it and that makes it great.
It is the page length of a typical picture book but felt like it was over rather quickly. There’s very brief information about Claude Monet at the end along with a note from the author/illustrator. show less

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Familius, for this DRC in exchange for a fair and honest review. The thoughts and opinions expressed below are my own.
I love how the little girl doesn't get angry at Claude when he splatters paint all over the room; maintaining her love for him instead and thinking about how to turn the activity into art. It's a subtle note to kids about emotional regulation.

This is a delightful children's Christmas book. The artwork is wonderful, the story is short and sweet.
I highly recommend it for the little people in your life.
The publisher gifted me a copy I wasn't under any obligation to post my review. #thegiftshopbear @worthykidsbooks #worthykidsbooks

It's a children's story book which tells a nice Christmas story. Each page is illustrated with maybe only one or two short paragraphs of text. The book is very short and can easily be read to a child in one sitting. I would recommend it.
