Highly recommended for preparedness-minded people, as well as campers, et. al. The book covers the long history of tents on at least 4 continents. It also provides a respectable list of manufacturers in the US (as of 1979). The list may be out of date, and it may be useless to concerned people of disaster-ridden countries on other continents. But even those pages have photos of some of the different styles of commercial tents. Hundreds of b&w photos and drawings --many of them truly show more instructive. The US-focus (not admitted to in the title) is, sadly, common to countless books published in the US. Still, the coverage of the book is close to global in its reach. If there is a better book for tents, I would really like to know. show less
