This gives a short history and description of a selection on monastaries. The picture material is very good, but the text is forgettable.
lots of maps ! However, graphics are sometimes sketchy and deliberatly unprecise. Arbitrary chronologies. Nevertheless, fine instrument for instant close-ups of (world and) European history.
This book left me with my mouth wide open just by looking at the photographs. Islam art and architecture is like no other: the intrisecate work, the colors, the design... it's absolutely amazing!
Nice selection of unique places!!
