Living the Dream : From West Gorton Street to the City of Manchester Stadium - Manchester City Almanac by Dean Hayes
Living The Dream – An Almanac For All Blues
Dean Haynes has research and written one of the most interesting almanacs for Manchester City fans, which will delight them and possibly give them information they did not know. Or if they did know the fact they had probably forgotten about it.
Manchester City has a long and proud history, whatever fans of other clubs may say, and the evidence are on the pages of this great book. Because Manchester City fans are keenly aware that other people keep show more trying to tell them that they have no history, they are noisy neighbours and are a small team.
When this book proves that the other club only became big in the late 1950s and that before that date Manchester City were and still are the Club for Manchester. Holding the attendance record for a domestic cup game, which was set in the 1920s still stands today, no other club has come close. Or that King George V was the first monarch to watch a domestic game, in 1920, between City and Liverpool at Hyde Road.
There are so many wonderful snippets in this book and is a must for all Manchester City fans. show less

Near the end of the 1987 season when Burnely were threatened with relegation to the Vauxhall Conference, I went to see them play Crewe at Gresty Road. To this day, I am convinced the referee played only 40 minutes in the second half. I wrote to the FA and got a reply, signed by Alan Kelly, telling me that however long the half was, the referee's decision was final.
