The Cistercian Monasteries of Ireland: An Account of the ... White Monks ... from 1142 to 1540 by Roger Stalley
beautiful detailed study of the Cistercian monasteries in Ireland starting with St Mary's in Dublin and Mellifont. Note T shaped arrangements of the sanctuaries and transcetpts of their churches. Usually two or three altars on east wall of transcetps (sometimes also on west transcept walls); originally no bell towers; austere but pure architectural features.Division between Norman and Gaelic houses and communities.
