A good start to this new, to me, series. Deke gets to utilize his "hillbilly" origins as he demonstrates his stalking and shooting skills during the retaking of Guam from the Japanese in WW2. Vivid action with lively characters that can sustain and grow with this series.

Short history of the major storms to have impacted the Chesapeake region. Factually fascinating, and filled with lots of good data and anecdotes about historical storms. A repeated point throughout the book is that the region seems to experience a major event, once a generation or so--and a truly devastating event just after everyone who remembers stories of it passes off. A highlight is actually the amusing introduction by local TV meteorologist Bernadette Woods.

I enjoy WWII related books, so could not resist entering this giveaway. And, I was not disappointed! I just hope there is a continuation of the story. I want to know what happens. What can I say... I want closure! :)

Just goes to show this was a good read!
