This book was a free book for Early Reviewers. It was a quick and easy read! I was not acquainted with this hilarious series until I read this book. Kids enamored with pirates would definitely enjoy this adventure of a little girl who is best friends with pirates, who come to the rescue of the town Dull-on-Sea. I like the "turning the tables" theme, in which kids help save the town and defeat the wicked and ghostly pirates. I also loved the idea of pirate parents and kids, just like a normal show more family--but they happen to be pirates! The illustrations were cartoon-like and funny. Some younger kids might find the bad pirates frightening, but overall I liked this book. show less

The Boy Who Cried Wolf, but with dinosaurs, still, the illustrations are funny-the dinosaurs have great big eyeballs, there are many kinds of dinosaurs to recognize and identify. The last page has some facts about some bones (called Gigantosaurus) that were found in Africa and England. Maybe more info than a board book reader needs.
This book was adorable. Illustrations on nearly every page, but not a picture book. This would be good for early readers, probably grades 1 and up. I was not aware of the series before reading this book but didn't find that any hindrance to enjoying it as a stand alone. I also appreciated that even though the pirate theme is often (in my opinion mistakenly) accredited to a male audience, the presence of both a male and female protagonists will make it less likely that adults will guide show more female audiences away from this book. Very humorous and clever as well as well-illustrated. show less
