In the Very Thickest of the Fight: The Civil War Service of the 78th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment by Steve Raymond
Excellent work. The book is composed from letters, diaries and journals of the men from the 78th Illinois Infantry. This regiment was part of Grangers Reserve Corps and marched in support of General Thomas at Snodgrass Hill and Horseshoe Ridge. One of the impressive features is at the end of each chapter the author records the soldiers that died during the period in time. Most died of desease.
