Wow this book was quite the adventure! I was hooked since the prologue, leaving me eager to find out what happened within 9 days for the prologue to have happened.
I certainly enjoyed the various adventures that Mike and Dan went on while on a football tour across Europe. Who knew 2 teenage boys would somehow get involved with one of the biggest drug lords in Europe and be so close to getting caught every time. Definitely nice to see the boys use show more some survival instincts while on the run, although it was Dan's foolishness that caused both of them to be in trouble in the first place. Totally enjoyed seeing how the boys have matured over time, especially Dan! The bits of football action mixed in with the fear of being hunted down set a nice pace throughout, giving us readers a little break to absorb everything that just happened.
To be honest, Dan really rubbed me the wrong way for the longest time, might be his typically male teenager attitude or his reckless actions, but thankfully I stuck through it and he was able to redeem himself!
I would have liked some closure as to what happens to Dan, Dan's father and Jim, seeing how the epilogue mostly focuses on Mike and when he receives his letter from the scouts Like I wanted to know whether Dan's father was punished for his part in the drug ring or how Mike's parents reacted when Jim showed up with Mike.
Overall, it was a good read. show less
