Lively art and a fresh take on the wanting-a-dog genre, which I hadn't really recognized as a thing before. Highly relatable and the Hwang's sense of the absurd is perfect as well as charming. Highly recommended, perhaps especially to those who aren't interested in dogs at all.

Toasty is a piece of toast who has always wanted to be a dog, but when Toasty tries to play with the other dogs, it goes awry. In seeking refuge on top of someone's picnic sandwich, Toasty finds a kid who's allergic to dogs but has always wanted one, and they're a perfect pair.

If you can overlook (or embrace) the toast-as-dog idea, this totally works. Would be good for a silly storytime.
