Great idea, poorly executed.
Mostly I liked the story. Interesting characters, interesting plot, and a bisexual main character. All wins for me. However, I felt there wasn't enough build up or chemistry between the two main characters. I also felt that there were several loose ends that needed to be tied up. For example, (spoiler alert) Captain Superior found out he killed Tad's family and starts reflecting on his actions but what does he do to help prevent such things in the future or id show more Tad's dad ever recovers. I realise it's a short story it just felt rushed and like it had pieces missing. show less

I LOVE messed up people!
And a well-adjusted protagonist is SO hard to come by... It's unbelievable.
This was fun. Downside - too short. Would love some more to read. It reminds me of [b:Kid Dark Against The Machine|30365422|Kid Dark Against The Machine|Tansy Rayner Roberts|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1465272863s/30365422.jpg|50876629], in a very good way.
It's not exactly a phylosophycal work on moralities of Good and Evil. It's not supposed to be.
You should give this a read.

Super Cute
At first I wanted to complain that it moved to fast. Then I remembered that it was a short story and to not put undue pressure on the author because I want more.
That said, loved the story. We did get to know Tad and Jamie. And I like both. You can see that they're young and do stupid things. But you see growth in them, and others.
I look forward to more stories by the author.

This was a quick cute read. I liked the characters and there were a lot of funny one liners. Only wish the book was longer.
