This title is a true misnomer - it should be "Bistro Food for Gourmet Tastes." Anything that requires Gruyere cheese or ghee would never be served in a "bar."
This is a great book. Very important issues like saving water, energy, reducing waste ect. It’s easy to read and easy to do what Kate Heyhoe recommends. Environmental problems are not solved with high tech gadgets. Except of Induction burners and electric kettles. Mostly reducing and re think the everyday things we do not only in the kitchen. I didn`t need the recipes at the end. (I don`t like it when a book doesn`t stay open during cooking.) You have to start in your own home a make a show more change. I would highly recommend it. show less
I love cooking and cookbooks! I am also learning more about protecting our resources and environments. This book successfully combines both topics with a lot of tips that can be applied day to day without significant investments.
I learned how to passively cook pasta with this book! Useful as a reference; the website (http://www.newgreenbasics.com/) contains most of the information collected here as well.
