This 1974 textbook provides an introduction to computer programming through the use of a fictitious, simplified programming language. Many of the examples are concerned with payroll systems, billing systems, and inventory control systems using punched-card technology. The end of each chapter contains a number of review questions and questions for discussion. Most of the chapters also contain a list of problems, primarily of the drill type.
This book teaches computer programming using the features of standard (ISO) Pascal. The reader is exposed to the principles of good programming practice as well as the specific rules of Pascal. A large number of examples are included. For example, the book includes 391 solved problems and 35 complete programming examples.
