No wonder all the girls in the class are disturbed by the newcomer, Mary Beth, who is so much more sophisticated than any of them and whose parents are wealthy.
Every boy is vying for her attention. Even the long-standing friendship of Cecilia and Michael seems threatened when Mary Beth allows Michael, not yet fifteen, to ride her brother's motor scooter, and a scooter is something he wants more than anything in the world.
Before long, however, Michael finds himself involved in a mystery about show more a series of local thefts. One night he actually witnesses a robbery, makes off with a motor scooter belonging to one of the thieves, and follows them to their hideaway. His daring might have proved fatal except for the curiosity of a dog named Ramrod and the quick action of Cecilia. show less
Michael and Cecelia, friends and schoolmates, were as excited as everyone else in the Swedish town of Nordvick because of the mysterious theft of a large sum of money from the post office, located in the wing of the old castle. Of more immediate concern to them, however, was the weird, luminous figure they saw in the dark castle hall late one night. Surely it must be the ghost that, as everyone knew, had haunted the castle since the seventeenth century! But what was Bertil Dal, the show more unbearably arrogant new boy at school, doing outside the castle immediately thereafter? show less
Ten-year-old Jon loves riding with his father, a Swedish country doctor, while he goes on his rounds. His friendship with a poor city boy eventually changes both of their lives. A lively tale set early in the twentieth century.
In a Swedish coastal village two young children stumble onto an adventure involving espionage and the military police
