Quoting the jacket blurb, because it gives a good idea of the content: "...retelling of true wartime exploits hidden until the 1978 British Official Secrets Act lifted security restrictions. In 1943, German merchant vessels off neutral Goa transmit information about Allied ships to a predatory U-boat. Unabe to launce a raid in neutral waters, the British draft some "unofficial " commandoes...the gray-haired veterans of the Calcutta Light Horse, who hadn't seen action since the Boer show more War."
Which explains the cast of my favorite actors from the 1950s and 60s.
The action is slow and the trade-craft abysmal. A female spy is introduced solely so Moore's character can seduce her (or she him). The action is "spiced up" unnecessarily, as compared to the actual events (which should have been followed more closely, IMNSHO).
