Hamish M. Brown

I enjoyed reading this book, a grand canter round previous writings and in many ways the individual pieces are better than the sum of the parts. But by the end of it though, and alas for me Hamish, I rather felt you had strayed close the mire of self-importance, and if you want to drain that swamp you really need to gild observation with an insight, sadly lacking here. But what a man you are and I'm encouraged off my sofa..

Some very interesting things and GREAT photography but, sadly, not enough information to really get one enthused. A great book to use as a starting place for internet surfing but otherwise, it gets tedious.

Another coast-to-coast book, in the wake of Alfred Wainwright's hugely successful route in Northern England. This one is interesting, you're expected to swim deep and fast-flowing rivers.
