A well done, lovely and warm photographic-essay of a farm family in the Galena, Illinois area (Jo Daviess County) following and photographing the family for many (25 or 30) years as the children grow up, get married and have children themselves. Jo Daviess County is a hilly, bucolic area in extreme northwest Illinois. Many of the farm families there, including the family photographed, have farmed there for 100-150 years, a very long time by midwest standards. Come and see the area, drive the show more back roads and then buy the book.

Photographs by famed Chicagoan, Archie Lieberman, text by Robert Cromie, the story-telling host of "Book Beat". Reminds us of the motto of the lakefront architect, Daniel H. Burnham: "Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood."
