The Beggar King was an excellent allegory on the relationship which Christ seeks with individuals and with his church. Very straight forward and simple it is a great way to show young readers a strong spiritual story.
A simple beggar comes along and to those who listen to him, he grants miracles and hope. He gives them an unconditional love which all of them are seeking, even when they didn't know they were looking for it. All he asks of them is for them to show that same love to each other. show more The book addressed big issues which define faith: money, trust, inter-personal relationships, persecution, doubt; and all of this in language and concepts which children can understand and appreciate.
