An entertaining read. John Harden's storytelling style is easy, direct, and literate. Each of these could just as easily have been told at a crackling fireside over a fragrant tumbler of whiskey.
Interesting read. I had expected it to be slanted more toward ghost stories but it is really a collection of mysteries - strange events in the history of the state of NC. It is a rather old book so there are no current stories in it, but it is certainly enjoyable.
Different caover. Inscribed: "Jane, the tracks are long gone, and the apparition unseen in decades, but here are some souvenirs I dug from the railbed at Maco, M. You'll be the first to touch them, so maybe they'll "speak" to you. XXO Charlie ( Cindy)"
