This book covers almost every sewing project imaginable using step-by-step photos with instructions. The instructions are thorough and the photos are good quality. The fabrics, styles, and designs in the photos seem dated despite the somewhat current copyright. However, the instructions are for standard sewing techniques, which never seem to become outdated. I would recommend purchasing this book if you are a beginner. It would be a great reference book to keep near the sewing machine.
For basic home decorating sewing, you can't do much better than this. With this book you don't need a lot of patterns to get started sewing some basics for your home. Want to know how to sew a lined curtain? This book will tell you step by step. Remember that when sewing with decorator fabrics, particularly curtains, it is very important to have the fabric cut properly. Basic rotary cutting skills are essential. Even if you are not a person who sees much use in cutting up fabric just to sew show more it together again, the basic precision rotary cutting skills and straightening fabric for quilting will speed your projects and ensure a quality result. show less
This is one of many books I keep handy in my library. I use it as a reference.
When working with different fabrics types its best you handle one fabric type in a different manner from another fabric type. If you want to get a more professional looking end result. This book proves to do just that.
Very easy to understand, terms used in quilting and all the essentials are explained, along with putting the quilt together.....great for any beginner.
