Although never having visited Congo, the author has gleaned enough information from reputable sources to produce this very informative introduction to the country and its peoples. With plentiful pictures, maps and diagrams, this is the type of book that you would expect to find in a middle-school or high-school library as one in a series on the countries of the world. Although slightly dated (2004), it covers the geography, history, language and lifestyles of the Congolese quite nicely. show more Interestingly, the author used "King Leopold's Ghost" by Adam Hochschild (a very good book on the history of Congo) as a starting point for this work. show less
I am a big fan of the “Enchantment of the World” series. The series is written for middle-school children. I would highly recommend it for children curious about the world. Similar to others in the series, this book provides an objective overview of the Qatar's geography, history, culture, and politics. As an adult, it provided me with fast and easy access to a wide range of information that I needed about Qatar.

From the book cover: "It's geography for a new generation, an invaluable show more resource for facts and figures, and a fascinating, highly visual introduction to the world's countries. Look for full-color photos, original maps, interactive, browser friendly sidebars, handy "fast facts," and an authoritative "to find out more" section including Internet sources." show less
