This one was really wonderful. Even though I knew Nick could possibly not win yet against Seiji, it was still thrilling to watch their match. It was just on another level and I felt that everyone was quite emotional about it. Nick’s resolve to make Seiji not compare him to Jesse felt so visceral, it just reflected off the page.
It was nice to see all the families for the first time. Having everyone together shows how casually diverse this series is and most of the parents were so show more supportive. It was especially funny to see Tanner’s whole family wear Team Kally shirts coz he made them. They are just such great friends. And it definitely wasn’t surprising to see just Seiji and Nick’s family missing. But what happened next will always remain my most favorite scene of this series 😍😍😍
”We’re friends, aren’t we?” has to be the sweetest thing Nick has ever uttered and Seiji’s shock wasn’t surprising 😂😂😂 And they were actually civil to each other. Even Coach realized that they are great for motivating each other and I think that final scene proves that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Finally, my binge has ended and I have to wait more than a month for the next issue and this is going to be very agonizing... Why did this have to end on such hope and anticipation 😲😲😲😲 show less

Akadot.com has jumped into the publishing end with two new OEL yaoi novels, and I ordered them mostly out of curiosity. All the OEL I have read before were lacking compared to the quality of Japanese yaoi. However, this one was a surprise. Starfighter is not light and fluffy; it is very edgy with a voice of its own. It does hold to the yaoi archetypes of seme and uke, but the characters are more interesting than that. It has a futuristic, space setting. Two men, code-named Cain and Abel, are show more assigned together as fighter pilot and navigator. Cain is an arrogant prick. Abel is naive, but he has a spine. Most of the story involves a firefight, but there is one explicit sex scene and a clever-ending that implies a sequel(s) to come.
The style of the book is also different from traditional yaoi. It reads left to right, and it is printed as a glossy perfect-bound comic which allows for color instead of just black and white. Starfighter's story is dark, and so there isn't much color (mostly shades of gray), but there are splashes of blue and yellow. My main criticism is that it was very short, and a little expensive compared to other yaoi. This is especially true since it has to be ordered from Akadot, with accompanying shipping charges. That said, I enjoyed it and would definitely order a sequel. show less

I guess I should have seen that reserve selection coming, but I didn’t so it was a pleasant surprise.
Nick really wants to be friends with Seiji but he is still rebuffing Nick’s attempts. Their conversation in the room is still cute and awkward. And that handshake.... Nick must be on cloud nine because it means so much to him.
I love the fencing team bonding and their special hangout place. They really are such wonderful guys and I think they are good for each other. And that little convo show more of Aiden with Jay has so much to unpack.... I can’t wait to see what happens next with Aiden and Harvard.
And WHAT THE HELL was that ending. It just came out of nowhere and whyyyy !!!! I was okay with all these cliffhangers when the next issue was a month away, but now it looks like volume 4 might not be out for an year and I don’t know what to do till then 😭😭😭 show less

This was intense !!!!! It was definitely a tough match to root for because even though Nick is my favorite, Kally is a sweetheart and I wanted none of them to lose. It was nice to see all the support for Kally, it shows this team is definitely capable of more than just hazing.
And the confrontation I was waiting for was finally here. I totally understand Nick’s hatred for Jesse but he is definitely quite obsessed with Seiji. I hope his feelings will develop into something more very soon. show more And Seiji again proves he is so observant when it comes to Nick and let’s see how soon he’ll figure out the truth about Nick.
That was a totally unexpected cliffhanger but I’m much more interested in Harvard’s insinuation... Did he really mean that 🤔🤔🤔 show less
