I bought this from a remainder shop, half-remembering a radio interview with the author. I'm glad I did, as it proved a happy accident. This is an entertaining and rather unclassifiable book - a life-so-far refracted through a cinematic prism of actors and their films.

A marmite book I suspect - likely to provoke love or hate, but likely to be of more interest to those favouring character over plot.

A very thorough history of the shooting of Spielberg's triumphant blockbuster. Also, a nice criticism of the social and political factors involved in small town communities. It draws parallels to the "Western genre/format" of cinema, believe it or not.
