The theme of this story is to be open to new ideas and adventures, and you’d never know what you’d like until you try. I enjoyed the author’s ability to combine factual information about the planets in a story-like fashion. For example, rather than give the reader facts sequentially or descriptively, the author included a character who didn’t think traveling in space would be so fun but when she went, she learned so many things. Having a story line in this book, personally, kept me show more more engaged and interested. I also enjoyed how the author was able to combine illustrations of characters interacting with realistic photos of the planets. For example, on page 12 we see the perspective from inside the spaceship looking out and notice the characters floating around but realistic pictures of Neptune and Uranus outside the ships windows. This created a balance between story line fiction and non-fiction (facts). show less
At a campfire, Lisa makes up a story to scare her friends. Her story is about a mean bear skeleton named Danny. She manages to create a good story so her friends get scared to the point they hide in their tents when they heard a sudden noise
