Interpreting the Sacred: Ways of Viewing Religion by William E. Paden

Paden helpfully explains how religion is viewed depending on one's perspective. It is not a survey or a review of the main options in interpreting religion, although he does explain them, so much as it is a way of interpreting sacred phenomenon. It is one of the more helpful works on the theories of comparative religion.
