This book has a lot of data on and specifications about battleships. However, it has little to no analysis or discussion as to what made one class better than those that came before it or how American battleships compared to their potential adversaries in Europe and Japan. The pictures area ample, but they generally are too small to be of much value.

This history of the American battleship includes a condensed history, construction material and technical information for each class of ship.
