This book reminded me a bit of Tony Hillerman's Four Corners mysteries. It has a Native American background (Tlingit) with some depth, and believable, sympathetic but not perfect characters. Lots of suspense and sufficient action - and a dog and a little kid - all in all a good read.
Very evocative of life in coastal Alaska. Full of the usual eccentrics. A hard but interesting life.

Great read for a Cruiser up the Inland Passage or any other armchair traveler who wants to enjoy the foggy mists and wet doug firs of the Panhandle with action, NA issues and a hint of relationships
OK as murder mysteries go, but do the characters really have to repeat twice each action in their dialogs?
