I didn't care for the story, but this is an early reader and my kid was really attracted to the pictures of this book, which looked fun. So, he was quite motivated to finish the whole story, even though it's a rather long read for his age (4). In that sense, this early reader is quite successful, although it's probably aimed at 6-7 year olds.
Pleasant but unremarkable. Puzzled about why the pig's nose looks like an oval-shaped toaster.
Summary:
Penny, big idea’s girl, spends the summer with her grandmother. Her grandma was having a birthday, so Penny wanted to have a party. Her grandma told her not to spend a lot of money. In the grandma’s attic was a bunch of old stuff laying around collecting dust. Penny, with her grandma’s permission, held a small shop up in the attic. She sold some stuff. Her grandma split the money between Penny and herself. Penny used the money to through a surprise party for her grandma show more
Personal Reaction:
It was a cute book. The book made me think about my grandma and how much I miss having parties with her.
Classroom Extensions:
1. I would have my students write about a time when they went to their grandmother house.
2. I would have my class come up with different idea’s to raise money and try to raise some money. With that money, we would have a party. show less

Could be a useful book for teaching lessons on ecnonmics to primary school children.
