What initially drew me to this book was the front cover - it's gorgeous, but unfortunately the story didn't meet expectations. The pace of the story wasn't quite right. At times the plot was slow and repetitive, then at other times things happened too quickly such as the romance between Alex and Callum, although it was rather sweet and innocent.
However, I did like that the author tried something different in this paranormal romance genre. We've had vampires, werewolves and angels, but this show more time the male protagonist was a dirge, not quite dead but not alive either feeding off the happy memories of the living which was an interesting twist. I don't think I'll be rushing to read the next book but I might give it a go sometime in the future. show less

Small Blue Thing is the first in a trilogy and debut novel of S C Ransom. If I'm totally honest it's not a book I would have picked up myself, but it was recommended by Georgia Twynham on facebook! and I loved both of Georgia's books, so I put my order in for a copy, and am so glad I did.....
It's a Fantastic start to a Trilogy, a little slow to begin with, but soon gets going, I soon found I couldn't put the book down! There are plenty of ups and downs for our hero, Callum and heroine, Alex, show more both very likable characters.
This book left me wishing June would hurry up and come so I can read the second book. show less
