Short biography
[excerpted from author's website]
Joseph Heller is an internationally renowned somatic educator who has been doing structural body work for twenty-eight years. He worked as an aerospace engineer in the NASA space program during its heyday of the 1960's and early 70's. In 1972 Joseph Heller became intensely involved in humanistic psychology, gave up his science career and was trained by the legendary Dr. Ida Rolf. As a result of his unique combination of training in structural integration, movement education and body energy awareness and his extensive work with a broad range of clients, Joseph Heller synthesized a new form of bodywork. In the late 1970's, he left the Rolf Institute, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and founded Hellerwork.

This book is going to give you a present.

'Hellerwork assumes that we are responsible for our bodies; that we have a choice; that life can be better from now on. Anyone can experience him/herself as a full manifestation of spirit in the simple acts of daily life...'

Heller work makes the connection between life issues and natural body alignment, and shows how to restore the body's natural balance from the inside out. Bodywise teaches the reader how to regain control and become a full-time show more owner of the body.

Joseph Heller is a leading bodyworker and teacher, and former president of the Rolf Institute.

'As someone who has experenced Heller work-and Joseph Heller-I can say that for me, the name is synonmous with quality. Given the standards Joseph has set for his practitioners and his life, it's no surprise to find a book that is a classic in its field-one of the few I'd keep on my shelf as a reference work.'-Dan Millman, author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior and The Warrior Athlete

'Joseph Heller's profound understanding of the human body and its possibilities for maximum health and efficiency gives his Bodywork the superb pleasure of healing.'-Richard Chamberlain, Actor

'For me Joseph Heller is completely unique in his approach to bodywork (Hellerwork) from both the physical and spiritual points of view. His open and loving nature permeates his treatments. The results have been both immediate and long-lasting. I look forward to my next session.'-Paul Horn, musician
