About the Author
Michael Smith was born on September 1, 1942 in Dublin, Ireland. He was a poet, publisher, and translator. His collections of poetry include Times and Locations, Collected Poems, and Prayers for the Dead. In 1967, he co-founded the small publishing house New Writers' Press, which revived the work show more and reputations of a number of Irish poets of the 1930s. He was founder and editor of the literary magazine The Lace Curtain. He was a translator of Spanish and Latin American poetry.
