This book is an eyewitness book; a great history book, but not in the format of a textbook, which is the first reason I like this so much. The wording is not repetitive and it is easy to understand, and relate to. The wording on the page is also not overwhelming. Also students can read one page, or many, that don’t have to be in the correct order. That is the great thing about informational texts. Another reason why I like this book so much is that the illustrations are fantastic. They are show more lifelike and they are realistic, but with lots of color, and small without being distracting to the other texts. Something similar to the illustrations are the pictures of the important figures in the American Revolution. There are actual photos of them, and also have details about that figure below. For example, John Jay is described as a brilliant New York Attorney. I like that they have the descriptions, because students can really think about who they were. Lastly, I really enjoy the other features, like the dates, the timeline at the end, and the extra information they have as well. Over all, this is not your typical boring history book and will be suitable for 4th and 5th graders as well as any middle school students. show less
This book, one of the Dorling Kindersley Eyewitness Books, explores the Red Planet. Learn about the ancient astronomers, the planet’s features, its moons, and much more.
Why do scientists search for water on the red planet? Were there ever people living on Mars?
Readers can see close-up photographs of the planet, learn about the Martian rovers, and explore the questions-and-answers section.
A perfect volume for students interested in space science, space exploration, and the solar show more system.

Mars
This book was about the solar system and the planet Mars. It is and informational text and it goes over the different things that effect mars and what surrounds the planet. For example its atmosphere, the rocks on the surface, the missions to Mars, life on Mars and colonization. I liked this book for three main reasons. On reason was that there wasn’t a ton of text. The text explaining each topic was informational without being too much which kept me from getting bored with the book. show more Another reason that I liked the book was there where a lot of pictures and they were very helpful in figuring out what the book was talking about. Also if I get bored of reading there are plenty of pictures to distract me and regain my interest. . The third and final reason that I like this book is that all the pictures have a description. For example if there was a picture of rover or another machine the text piece next to the picture would describe what it is and how it works. This helps me get a better understanding for what the machines are and what they do. This helps to clarify things so I don’t get confused while I am reading. In conclusion I liked this book because it had good pictures, comfortable amount of text, and the pictures have descriptions. This book doesn’t really have a message other than trying to share the knowledge of the economy. show less
