A review of the suburban 'North Tyneside Loop Line' and the NER branch to South Shields, plus associated railways; their early electrification, their decline and rebirth as the Tyne & Wear Metro. Many of the photographs were taken during the period I was a student in Newcastle and commuting on the North Tyneside Loop, so there's nostalgia here for me!
