This wonderful novel seems to have flown under the radar - it deserves to be much better known. A simple, unsentimental story about 'one of Jesus' mistakes', Walter. It's only a short book, but beautifully written and managed to evoke a whole range of emotions for me. I'm moving straight on to the sequel!
Really like the television series that was based on this book, so I got the book from the library. Although the book has a few differences than the series, it was excellent, and the series didn't redo the book, so there wasn't any spoiler issues from watching the TV program first. Hetty's character is a hilarious Northern piece of work.
