A fascinating look at what life was like on the Channel Island of Jersey during the five years of German occupation in WWII. Written by a doctor, it not only tells what it was like performing his medical duties, with a shortage of doctors, drugs, and supplies, but also how he survived the ever increasing shortage of food, clothing, fuel, etc. A very clever and resourceful person, he made his own booze, grew tobacco and rolled his own cigarettes, grew food, cut down trees (illegally) for logs show more to burn, and outwitted the Germans by keeping and slaughtering animals for meat. show less
An inspiring man with a well written inspirational story of how he faced the occupation of Jersey.
