I was delighted to discover a really rare JQ. One of her earliest and not at all like the rest of her work in some respects, because she deals not with titled Regency but with really dark village secrets. Wade the infamous village outcast has returned to his village a successful novelist. But he needs to put the past to bed and together with the woman who betrayed his trust, tries to put to bed the tragedy which led to his marginalised reputation. Haunting stuff and not a duke in sight.

rabck from bookstogive 10/10; the medical parts were far fetched because I'm in the medical field. But if the woman came clean like she should have, there would be no story. Tessa comes to town after discovering her daughter, wasn't really hers. She carries the gene for a heriditary disease, so she wants to obscurely find the other child - without giving away why she's looking. She hired PI Corey, who knows something's afoot, but it doesn't keep him from falling in love with Tessa. And soon show more they discover that it was their daughters who were switched. But it doesn't matter because they're going to marry anyway. show less
