Excellent poem called Waving on why and when people wave at trains. Did Burns foresee Cantona in The last Wednesday in the month? `But it was only the local poets getting together again for an evening of seagull talk'.
The poetry of Jim Burns is so accessible. There are 20 poems in this collection which can be read in half an hour and then again and again.
Brief poems on routine, monotony and unhappiness, e.g one called Worry, another ending with words 'The bus does not stop. We shall soon be there'.
Somebody said in a review that Jim Burns has not written a bad poem. I tend to agree.
