This is a reference book.
The data on Cardinals is excellent. Nearly all the photos and captions are crooked, giving the book a non-professional look it does not deserve. This was in my opinion, a publisher's poor decision, making the book seem a personal opinion text rather than a reference. Good data, poor publishing.

This is the reference to have when birding near Concan Texas. This 2006 version is the best. The author states it will be her last revision. The spiral binding is perfect, It lacks a simple checklist and lacks any indication fo abundance changes throughout the year for most species.

However, the local details within the book make it well worth having.

There is a stone engraved with a humminbird image and June Osborne's name embedded within a stone bench at the Neal's Lodges cafe in Concan, show more commemorating this author and embassador to the area birds. This indicates how worhtwhile her comments of the local birds within the book have been received.

The book is targeted mostly at spring visitation to the area. show less
