The art is the strength in this picture book. The illustrations are made from paper collages that are detailed yet calming to look at. The story focuses upon several images of objects you would find in a garden setting. The images start in macro view, then gradually "zoom out" so that the reader can see what it really is.
Written by an art teacher, this is a good guide to thinking about how to break a project down into steps.

36 months - good book for the under two crowd, she is well beyond at this point.

Boldly colored illustrations introduce the concept of perspective. First an object is shown very close up, and subsequent images show the object a little farther away until the whole object is visible. The last page has information about lady bugs, hummingbirds and cardinal flowers.

Do you think this is a book children would want to read (or have read to them) more than once?

Are the illustrations effective in introducing the concept of perspective?

What kind of dialog would this book prompt?
