To my surprise, it took me unusually long time to finish reading this short little book. It's not very good and yet I'm ambivalent about it. Several of the book's conclusions are conjectural and too farfetched to be convincing or (in my opinion) valid. The author draws out numerous texts that support his thesis but he fails to engage some texts that seem to run run counter to his own views. Finally, the book contains a number of superfluous repetitions of assumptions that were somewhat thin show more in the first place. That's all quite annoying. So why am I ambivalent about it? For two main reasons: 1) I'm sympathetic (some might even say biased) towards the book's overall project; showing that Yeshua and his first followers were quite consistently adhering to the Torah. And 2) among all the less-than-convincing stuff, there are several keen and deeply profound observations. I had many pleasant "aha-moments" where I felt compelled to put the book aside either to reflect on what I'd read or look up stuff in other sources. To me, that's what reading is all about. So, despite the farfetched assumptions and superfluous repetitions, it's actually worth reading. show less
