Summary:
The story gives various examples such as "A friend coming over," "Someone gives you something," and then asks for the correct response. The responses all consist of those with manners such as, "please," "thank you," "excuse me" etc. The story ends with the concept that if you have manners hugs will come your way.
Personal Reacton:
Manners are a vital aspect of growing up. I don't think that manners are impressed upon as they should be. It seems so basic, but a lot of it simply isn't show more being taught at home. It is important to discuss bodily functions and how to react to them without being rude. It was also refreshing to the response to cheating to be, "Play fair," instead of telling an adult.
Classroom Extension ideas
1. Quiz the children on what to say given different scenarios.
2. Play a game throughout the day where students are encouraged to compliment their classmates manners when they hear them using them appropriately. show less
