About the Author

Carol Johnson is a senior political scientist from the University of Adelaide Carol Johnson is currently a senior lecturer in politics at the University of Adelaide. She has also taught in communications at the New South Wales Institute of Technology (now UTS) and was a visiting fellow from 1997-8 show more in the political science program, Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University. She has published widely in the areas of Australian politics and political discourse. Her recent work seeks to combine political science, Australian studies and cultural studies perspectives. She is the co-editor of two books and author of The Labor Legacy: Curtin, Chifley, Whitlam, Hawke (Allen and Unwin, 1989). She was president of the Australasian Political Studies Association (APSA) from 1998-9. She is on the editorial advisory boards of The Australian Journal of Political Science and Australian Feminist Studies.
