I don't think the authors quite made up their mind whether they were going to do a book about the 1920s in general, or a book about famous 1920s trials. One trial, for example (that of Al Capone) didn't take place in the 1920s, and the events of another (the Black Sox scandal) largely didn't take place in the 1920s. The same could be said of the Insull trials. In each case, much more is spent on the background of the trials, than on the trials themselves. Only in the case of the Leopold & show more Loeb murder/kidnapping trial do the authors really come to grips with legal aspects. Not recommended. show less
A very well written perspective of the 20s through a study of 10 trials of the decade, from Sacco and Vanzetti to Teapot Dome.
I could not finish this! It's very bogged down with alot of information about the 1920's and only a little about the trials themselves. I did find the Fatty Arbuckle chapter interesting though. I for some reason only ever heard bits and pieces about the crime and it wasn't as bad as I thought it to be. Poor guy!
