Ashton's memorial : an history of the strange adventures and signal deliverances of Philip Ashton, Jr. of Marblehead by John Barnard
There are actually several parts to this: Ashton's account of his capture by pirates, escape, and survival on the small islands of the Caribbean, which is pretty fascinating; Nicholas Merritt's account of his escape from the same pirate and subsequent imprisonment by the Spanish, which sounds a little whiny compared to what Ashton went through; and a hefty pile of sermons at the end on the power of God to deliver his servants from evil. (Which is actually kind of surreal to read about when show more Barnard keeps referring specifically to Jews in this context, knowing that Jews are being pretty severely persecuted in Europe at this time.
