an excellent introduction to the craft, with a solid historical section, straightforward instructions and clear diagrams. If you want one book to start you off, I'd strongly recommend this one.
Dated, with all b&w photos but still quite useful. It has a pretty extensive section on decorated papers. The idea of using a "finder" to select sections of decorated paper for use in your book is great. It has good drawings describing a number of useful book structures. The section on tools and materials is not useful - there are better tools and materials now available.
First published in 1963, this is still one of the most helpful books available. It includes an overview of bookbinding and book design; techniques for making decorated paper; and directions, with clear diagrams, for several simple binding constructions. Great for an introduction before tackling more detailed and elaborate projects.
