The book contains lots of beautiful late medieval & renaissance portraits. It also provides pictures of castles and ruins as they look today. The main problem a reader would have with this book is that it keeps jumping from one period to another. One can get confused with how the author would be talking about the reformation era in one paragraph then suddenly jump to the middle ages period in the next paragraph and then again back to the reformation era again without proper transistion or show more sign posting from the author. Despite this however, i would say that one can still learn a lot from this book if he or she is patient enough to stick with this book despite its chronological chaos. (Also please remember that this book seems to be a bit outdated already) show less
