This is a lovely read. Filled with engaging characters, from the main character, who is well-rounded enough to contemplate sexual adventures while clearing out blocked drainage lines, to her love interest, who comes around in the end after some good dosing with fresh salt air, to the various other characters that join in this merry romp.
The romance story holds together well, with none of the 'I'm hiding a secret just because I don't talk to people' aspect often found in more frustrating show more romances. Yes, there are secrets here, but they are reasonable ones and understandable in the plot. There's a loveable dog who isn't too cute. There's weather. Lots of weather. I was becoming positively chilled reading this which was a great thing for a hot summer day.
The whole story is sweet but not saccharine, kind but not smarmy, self-aware but not overly smart. I am usually not a fan of romances, but this one, with the details about life in a Cape Breton campground, gave me a very happy day's read.
Lots of good details and I've got to add the sexual scenes, though done with great care, were also enough to raise the heart rate (ah, those sexy sweatpants...). No mockable slimy scenes here - just good old heart-warming and exciting touches and kisses.
Enjoy. It'll make you want to head to Cape Breton. And/or kiss someone.

I received a copy of this book through LibraryThing's Members Giveaways in exchange for an honest review.

Such a captivating, cozy and engaging read - and of course always happy to read something that takes place in my native Canada! This was a way better read that I was *expecting* (sorry Tim, I couldn't even recall entering the giveaway!) and I read it cover to cover in under 24 hours.

The perfect blend of romance, plot and local Canadian scenery/references. Can't wait to read more of this show more author's books show less
