Mike Whitney is a former Australian fast bowler who has parlayed his fame into television gigs and multiple book deals. “Quick Whit” was his first entry into print and while underwhelming, it perhaps wasn’t as dull as I feared.

Whitney gives a potted history of his rise to international cricket, initially through his surprise selection for his Test debut when he happened to be playing English league cricket when the touring Australian team needed a fast bowler pronto. Whitney never show more reaches any poetic heights as a writer but there’s probably enough here to keep the undemanding cricket fan interested. show less
